Bradley Johnson from the Variable Stars--another satisfied customer!

We had a great time Saturday night with our friends the Variable Stars. These guys write some of the most intelligent, catchies pop tunes I have heard in quite a while. There are only 5 of them, yet they manage to seamlessly squeeze in 4 part harmonies, strings, two keyboards, electric guitars, and rhythm section that would make Burgalat go nuts. And they threw in a cover of our wonderful friend and mentor Curt Smith's "Mad World". Every song from the Variable Stars sounds unique, it makes you realize how crappy most other bands are.
The Corner Laughers opened up the set, these guys are great fun to watch as well--sort of a rock outfit but with an electic ukelele. I bought their cd but haven't had a chance to really give it a thorough listen yet.
Aside from that, Johnny V's is the coolest little dive bar in downtown San Jose. Thanks to Michelle Livingston, Kat Party, Andrew, Kevin, and all of our friends who came out to support live music in San Jose.
